Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 May 2026.

This policy explains what data LoveHomeStyle.co.uk collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have over it. It applies to anyone who visits the site, signs up for email or price alerts, or contacts us.

We've kept this policy plain. If anything's unclear, email info@lovehomestyle.co.uk and we'll explain in plainer terms.

1. Who we are

LoveHomeStyle.co.uk is a UK price-comparison website for furniture, homeware and related products. The site is run by Jason as a sole trader.

  • Trading name: LoveHomeStyle.co.uk
  • Contact: info@lovehomestyle.co.uk
  • Data controller: The sole trader behind LoveHomeStyle.co.uk is the data controller for any personal data this site collects.

We're registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) registration in progress at the time of writing. Once issued, the registration number will be added here and to the footer.

2. What data we collect

2.1 Information you give us directly

  • Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter, set up a price alert, or send us a message via the contact form.
  • The text of any message you send us through the contact form or by email.
  • Optional details you choose to include in messages (your name, what you're looking for, etc.). These are voluntary.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • IP address — your browser sends this with every request. We hash it and use the hash for short-term rate-limiting (e.g. preventing the same address from submitting the subscribe form 100 times in a minute). We do not store the raw IP address.
  • Browser type, language, screen size, referring URL — sent automatically by your browser. Used for analytics if you've consented to analytics cookies, otherwise discarded after the request finishes.
  • Pages you view, search terms you enter, products you click — recorded in aggregate for analytics if you've consented. Without analytics consent, we keep no per-visitor record of this.

2.3 Cookies and local storage

We set a small number of first-party cookies and use browser localStorage for some on-site features. Full inventory and consent options are in our Cookie Policy.

3. Why we use your data, and our lawful basis

Under UK GDPR we need a lawful basis for every type of processing. Ours are:

PurposeLawful basis
Sending you the newsletter or price alerts you signed up forYour consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.
Replying to your contact-form messageNecessary for taking steps at your request (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
Analytics (Google Analytics 4) — only after you accept the analytics cookie categoryYour consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) + PECR Reg 6).
Site security — short-term rate-limit hashes, abuse-prevention logsOur legitimate interests in keeping the site available and preventing abuse (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Affiliate-link tracking when you click a retailer linkYour consent (the click is your action) plus our legitimate interests in earning commission to keep the site free.
Compliance with UK consumer law (DMCC, PECR records)Legal obligation (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)).

4. Who we share your data with

We do not sell data. We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone outside the processors listed below. Each processor is named so you can read their own privacy policies.

4.1 When you click a retailer link

Outbound clicks to retailers go through our affiliate redirect, which passes your click to the affiliate network (currently Awin for most retailers; Amazon Associates for Amazon products). The affiliate network records that the click came from us so we can be paid commission if you buy something. The data shared is: the retailer's product ID, the source page on our site, and your visit to the affiliate's tracking URL. We do not pass your email address, name, or anything you've given us directly.

4.2 Analytics

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited) processes anonymised usage data on our behalf. Google may transfer this data to the US under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Default Google Analytics retention is 14 months, after which event-level data is deleted automatically.

4.3 Email delivery

Confirmation emails (subscriber double-opt-in) and price-alert emails are sent via our hosting provider's mail service (eUKhost, UK). The email content and recipient address pass through their mail servers in transit. eUKhost does not store the email body beyond delivery.

4.4 Hosting

The site, the database and our log files are hosted by eUKhost Limited (UK company, UK data centres). They process data on our instructions only and have signed standard data-processing terms.

4.5 Lawful disclosure

If we receive a lawful order from a UK court, regulator (e.g. ICO, ASA, CMA, Trading Standards) or law-enforcement body, we will disclose what's required and no more. We will challenge requests we consider unreasonable or out of scope.

5. Where your data is stored

  • Hosting, database and server logs are in UK data centres (eUKhost).
  • Google Analytics may transfer aggregated, anonymised data to Google's US servers under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
  • Amazon Associates and Awin operate UK and EU servers. Their privacy policies (linked in section 4.1) explain their own transfer mechanisms.

6. How long we keep your data

DataRetention
Newsletter or price-alert email addressUntil you unsubscribe. Deleted within 30 days of unsubscribe.
Price-alert subscriptionsUntil cancelled, or until the product is no longer in our catalogue.
Contact-form messagesUp to 2 years, then deleted. Sooner on request.
Rate-limit hashes (subscribe / login)1 hour for subscribe; 15 minutes for login attempts.
Server access logs30 days.
Google Analytics events (if consented)14 months (Google's default retention).
Cookie consent record (cc_cookie)182 days, then re-prompt.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the following rights:

  • Right of access — ask us what data we hold about you. We'll reply within one calendar month.
  • Right to rectification — ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete your data. We'll comply unless we have a legal obligation to keep it.
  • Right to restrict processing — ask us to stop processing your data while a dispute is resolved.
  • Right to data portability — ask us to send your data to you (or another controller) in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests; we'll stop unless we can show a compelling reason to continue.
  • Right to withdraw consent — at any time, for anything you consented to. Doesn't affect any processing already done before withdrawal.
  • Rights re. automated decision-making — we don't make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects, so this right isn't usually engaged.

To exercise any of these, email info@lovehomestyle.co.uk. We'll need to verify it's you, usually by replying from the same email address you signed up with. We don't charge a fee unless your request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

If we don't resolve your concern, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, helpline 0303 123 1113. We'd rather you came to us first so we can fix things, but the right to complain to ICO is yours regardless.

8. Children

This site is not aimed at people under 16 and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us their data, email info@lovehomestyle.co.uk and we'll delete it.

9. Security

We use HTTPS across the site (TLS encryption in transit), hash passwords with PHP's password_hash() function, hash rate-limit identifiers rather than storing raw IPs, and restrict admin access to a single account behind a password and two-factor authentication. No system is unbreakable; if we discover a breach affecting your data we'll notify you and the ICO within the timescales UK GDPR requires.

10. Updates to this policy

If we make material changes (new processors, new types of data collected, change of lawful basis) we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where the changes affect you, contact you directly via the email you signed up with. Minor cosmetic edits won't trigger a notification.

11. Contact

For anything in this policy:

  • Email: info@lovehomestyle.co.uk
  • Reply window: we aim for two working days; one calendar month is the legal maximum for rights requests.
