Toddler Beds
Updated
We list over 250 toddler beds here from Robert Dyas, The Range and other UK retailers. A toddler bed bridges the cot and the single: the standard size is 70×140cm, the height to the top of the mattress is usually 25-35cm, and most models have side rails to stop a sleeping child rolling out.
The right age window is roughly 18 months to 4 years, but the trigger is usually height (the cot's becoming a climbing frame) or mattress wear (cot mattresses are designed for infant sleep loads, not toddler kicking). Two practical questions help narrow it down: does the bed share a room with another sibling now or in the next 12 months (single-over-single bunk plus a toddler-rail set converts later); and how heavy is the existing cot mattress (70×140 sheet sets are easy to find but cot mattresses don't always transfer, many are too soft for a toddler's weight). Most well-reviewed toddler beds sit between £80 and £250; the character-licensed ones run £150-£400.
