Hallway Tables
Updated
A hallway table, also called a console table, is the long, narrow piece that runs along a hallway wall: holds keys and post, supports a lamp or vase, and gives a hallway visual depth that a bare wall lacks. Andrew Martin, Aosom UK and Archiproducts UK between them cover £10-£5,824 across the range. Standard hallway-table sizes run 80-100cm wide (small entrance), 120-150cm wide (household standard), and 180-200cm wide (long Victorian halls or grand entrances). Depth: 25-35cm for narrow hallways (under 100cm wide); 35-45cm for wider hallways. Material decides longevity: solid wood (oak, walnut, mango) lasts decades; veneered MDF chips at the front edge over time; metal-and-glass console tables suit contemporary interiors but show fingerprints. Look for hallway tables with shelves or drawers underneath; a single-surface console doubles as decor only, but a drawer or shelf takes mail, keys and small items off the surface.
