Heated Towel Rails

Updated

A heated towel rail dries towels between uses and adds gentle heat to the bathroom in shoulder seasons. The two install types are central-heating-fed (replaces a radiator on the bathroom hot-water circuit) and electric-only (plugs into a socket or hard-wires, runs independently). Cherry Lane Garden Centres, QD stores and Robert Dyas between them cover £22-£2,436 across the range. Heat output (in BTUs or kW) decides how warm the rail gets and how fast it dries towels: 1500 BTU (0.4kW) is the smallest practical size; 2500-3000 BTU (0.7-0.9kW) suits a household bathroom; 5000+ BTU (1.5kW+) heats a large bathroom alongside towel-drying. Standard sizes: 600x400mm (compact), 800x500mm (household standard), 1200x600mm (large bathroom or shower room). Material: chrome (the standard), white powder-coat (matches white bathrooms), brushed brass or matte black (contemporary). Dual-fuel rails work on central heating in winter and electric-only in summer.
