Decking Lights
Updated
Decking lights, flush-mount LED disks that recess into the boards, give that hotel-spa pool-side feel for not much money. The install needs a 12V transformer (low voltage, safe around bare feet and wet feet) and the cable runs under the deck before the boards go down. Retrofitting decking lights to an existing deck means lifting boards, so these get easier to fit during a deck build than later. Aosom UK, Cherry Lane Garden Centres and Fulfilora between them cover £3-£700. Look for stainless steel surrounds (rust-proof) and at least IP67 rating (occasional immersion-proof, since rainwater pools on decks). Warm white (2700-3000K) is the right colour for ambience; cooler 4000K reads as too clinical for evening relaxation. The grid below filters by IP rating, colour temperature and surround finish.
