Round Rugs

A round rug breaks up the right-angle furniture geometry of most rooms: works under round dining tables, in nurseries, and as a feature in entrance halls. Sizing: 80-100cm round (small accent), 120-150cm round (under a small round dining table or in a nursery), 180-200cm round (full-size living-room feature, fits the average sofa-and-chairs grouping). Round rugs read smaller than rectangular rugs of the same area; size up if in doubt. Material: wool (premium, lasts decades, underfoot feel is hard to beat); polypropylene (budget, easy-clean, kids-and-pets-friendly); cotton flat-weave (light, washable, casual). The visual trick: a round rug under a round table needs to be 60cm larger than the table diameter so chairs sit fully on the rug when pulled out; a 100cm table needs a 160cm round rug.
