Plant Pots
Updated
A plant pot does three things: holds the soil, drains the water, and looks the right size for the plant. Most pot purchases get sized wrong, too big and the soil holds water against the roots, too small and the roots circle and stunt. The right pot is 2-4cm larger in diameter than the plant's current pot. Aosom UK, Archiproducts UK and Cheap Furniture Warehouse between them stock 1,100+ pots covering £1-£2,667. Material decides where the pot can live: terracotta (porous, classic look, can crack in frost, bring inside for winter); glazed ceramic (heavier, frost-resistant, the indoor-and-outdoor pick); plastic (lightweight, all-weather, less attractive); concrete (heaviest, most weatherproof, statement pieces). Drainage holes are essential for outdoor pots and most indoor pots; if the pot doesn't have them, drill them or use as a cachepot with the nursery pot inside. Saucers underneath catch drips on indoor pots.
