Cube Storage
Updated
Cube-storage units are the modular shelving system that uses 30-35cm cube modules: open-front cubes for display, fabric-drawer-fit cubes for hidden storage, mixed configurations for both. The format dominates kids' rooms, hallways and entryways because the units stack in any configuration and accept low-cost cube-sized fabric drawers from any retailer. Aosom UK, Cheap Furniture Warehouse and Cherry Lane Garden Centres between them cover £4-£900 across the range. Standard configurations: 4-cube (2x2), 6-cube (2x3 or 3x2), 9-cube (3x3), and 12-cube (3x4 or 4x3). The bigger units anchor a feature wall; the smaller units sit under a window or alongside a desk. Material: melamine-faced chipboard is the budget standard at £30-£100; veneered MDF at £100-£300; solid-wood cube shelving at £300-£900. Cube fabric drawers (sold separately at £4-£15 each) finish the look with hidden storage. Look for back panels on cube units that face into the room, open backs work against a wall.
