Shower Doors

Updated

A standalone shower door is the replacement piece when an existing enclosure's door has failed but the tray and side panels are intact: hinged pivot doors, sliding-bypass doors, bifold doors, and curved bow-front doors. Durovin Bathrooms, Fulfilora and Robert Dyas between them cover £18-£389 across the range. Sizing matters precisely: shower doors are sold to fit specific opening widths; a 760mm door fits a 760mm opening, not "approximately 76cm". Measure the existing tray opening before ordering. Glass thickness: 6mm is the budget standard, 8mm the comfort tier; 10mm doors are rare as standalone pieces. Hinge type matters: top-and-bottom pivot (simplest, most reliable); side-hinge with stays (allows the door to swing wider); concealed hinges (cleanest contemporary look). Door height: 1850mm is the household standard, 1950mm and 2000mm available for taller users. Quick-release hinges (the door lifts off for cleaning) cost £30-£50 more but transform deep cleaning.
