Fire Pits
Updated
A fire pit extends the garden into the evening, even British summers. The two formats are wood-burning (the real campfire experience, with the smoke and the manual feeding) and gas (instant flame, no smoke, the lower-fuss option). Gas fire pits run on propane or natural-gas connections; wood-burning fire pits accept logs and need a fire-proof base. Andrew Martin, Aosom UK and Archiproducts UK between them cover £5-£5,315 across the range. Look for steel thickness (1.5mm minimum for a wood-burner that lasts beyond two seasons), a deep bowl for ember containment, and a spark guard or grate for safety. Fire pits sit at least 3m from any building, fence or low-hanging tree branch. That's the standard fire-safety distance, not optional.
