What's the difference between a bedroom chair and an accent armchair?

A bedroom chair is sized for the bedroom corner: typically 60 to 75cm wide, 70 to 90cm deep, seat height 45 to 50cm. An accent armchair is sized for the living room: 80 to 100cm wide, with a deeper 50 to 60cm seat. Use seat depth as the test. A bedroom chair fits next to a wardrobe; an accent armchair fills a corner.

Are small bedroom chairs comfortable enough to sit and read in?

For 30 to 60 minutes, yes, if the seat is at least 45cm deep and the cushion is 8cm-plus. Below that, the chair is for getting dressed and holding clothes, not extended reading. How do you clean a velvet or fabric bedroom chair?

Vacuum weekly with the upholstery attachment to lift hair and dust before they bond to the pile. For spot stains, blot (do not rub) with cold water and a microfibre cloth. Stronger marks: a 1:1 white vinegar and water mix, blotted on then air-dried. Avoid steam cleaners on velvet; they crush the pile permanently.

What's the right seat height for a bedside chair?

45 to 50cm above the floor matches a standard divan or 25cm mattress so the chair sits level with the bed edge. For ottoman beds (often 60cm-plus to the top of the mattress) a higher 50 to 55cm seat works better. Measure mattress-top height before ordering if the chair is meant to sit alongside the bed.
