Sambucus Black Lace Please note: This product cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland. The 'Black Lace' has almost black foliage, of a deep purplish-red characteristic. The pale-pink flowers appear on compound corymbs and are grouped throughout the shrub. This type of Elderberry shrub grows from a central mound. This hardy plant prefers sun as the leaves will lose their trademark colour in partially shaded areas. They prefer well-draining soils and can grow in a variety of soils and are drought-tolerant. Due to their flowers and fruiting, they attract a number of pollinators, mostly bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects during the flowering period and birds during the fruiting seasons. This plant is sometimes compared to the Japanese Maple for the intricate patterns on its long, thin and serrated leaves. The plant should be cut back significantly at the start of the season and a rich compost should be applied around the base of the plant
