He made the prototype from 11 pieces of timber cut from a single piece of wood, which caught the attention of his carpenter friend and hunting partner, Harry Bunnell. It isn’t confirmed, but the presumption is that Bunnell patented Lee’s design, called it The Westport Chair and sold it for his own commercial gain.
