Adirondack Double...   Please note: this set includes 2 x Adirondack Chairs and 1 x Richmond Side Table Little did Thomas Lee know when, in 1903, he designed what he intended to be, ‘the perfect outdoor chair,’ for him and his family at their Summer Home overlooking the Adirondack Mountains what a sought-after design it would become. He made the prototype from 11 pieces of timber cut from a single piece of wood, which caught the attention of his carpenter friend and hunting partner, Harry Bunnell. It isn’t confirmed, but the presumption is that Bunnell patented Lee’s design, called it The Westport Chair and sold it for his own commercial gain. We presume the hunting trips stopped pretty soon after that. The term Adirondack Chair is reportedly supposed to have been coined by the staff at a Care Home for tuberculosis patients overlooking the Adirondack Mountains who bought Lee’s design from Bunnell on the basis that it was perfect
