Founded in Barnoldswick, Lancashire in 1946, they've spent eight decades making pocket-sprung mattresses for the middle of the market and getting the size, the firmness and the price-tag close enough to right that they've become the brand most likely to be in stock at any given retailer.

The mattress range is the heart of it. Pocket-sprung models like the Mirapocket and Geltex Ultraflex sit in the £300 to £700 bracket, with hybrid memory-foam options going up to around £1,000 and ortho-spec ranges aimed at heavier bodies and back sleepers above that. Beyond mattresses, they do divan bases, headboards, mattress toppers, pillows, duvets, and a sizeable range of heated throws and electric blankets that sells well from October onwards.
